Reduction of water consumption in production plants through the use of artificial intelligence and digital twins (Hydroless)

Description

The company Friselva, together with the Alimentaria Guissona Corporation (bonÀrea) and with the participation of the inLab FIB from UPC as a technology center, is working on the Hydroless operational group project.

The current situation of the meat industry is characterized by several challenges that include, among others, the pressure on water resources and the need to improve environmental sustainability. The consumption of water in meat facilities has a high demand for water for various phases of the process, such as meat washing, cooling and other operations.

The project defines two main objectives:

  • On the one hand, a solution will be carried out to monitor and optimize the water consumption used during the production process of the plant that bonÀrea has in Guissona;
  • On the other hand, a digital twin of the facilities that Friselva has in the town of Riudellots de la Selva will be designed and developed to allow the monitoring and study of design alternatives for the recirculation of the water consumed in the different processing rooms included in the digitized plant and thus be able to optimize the consumption of water used.
