LIVE-FOR (Criminal Justice Access to Digital Evidences in the Cloud – LIVE-FORensics)

Cybercrime and cyberterrorism are issues that have a major impact, both socially and economically, on a global scale. The investigation of related cases often involves obtaining digital evidence in various environments, which are not always under the jurisdiction of the same country.

It is for this reason that the European directive 2014/41/EU through the European Investigation Orders (EIO) aims to facilitate the gathering of evidence between member states.

The LIVE-FOR project is one of the initiatives that will provide knowledge on new technologies under development to conduct digital research in cloud environments.

It will also investigate the state of implementation in EU member states of the 2014/41/EU directive, raise awareness among prosecutors and investigators of the new European tool for cross-border digital evidence collection and establish best practice guidelines and training programmes in the area of digital forensics.

The main objective of the project, however, is to improve the competences of judicial authorities in the use of European Investigation Orders and in cloud forensics through various activities including joint meetings, training and practical workshops, creation of information centers, and provision of strong awareness and dissemination campaigns.

The project team is also committed to fostering networking among those involved in the fight against cybercrime and cyberterrorism.

Project participants include universities and institutes from Belgium (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), Spain (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), Germany (Fachhochschule Albstadt – Sigmaringen), Czech Republic (Masaryk University) and Slovenia (Jožef Stefan institute).
