Epidemiological Survey System for Vall d’Hebron

Description

The Drassanes-Vall d’Hebron International Health and Infectious Diseases Centre is a centre specialising in the detection, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, especially those related to international travel and to vulnerable groups. As part of its activities, the Centre has awareness-raising and information resources published on the eSPICTools platform, as well as field surveys carried out by health workers in different territories of Catalonia, which until now were managed in paper format.

In this context, the inLab FIB is developing, together with the VHIR and the Mundo Sano Foundation, HSUS (Health Survey System), a platform aimed at digitising field surveys, facilitating the graphical visualisation of results and geolocating the actions carried out. The project also allows for the integration of existing tools and the modernisation of workflows through a shared platform between organisations.

Among the platform’s main features are an organisation management module that allows for the administration of independent workspaces, an automatic translation system to facilitate its use in different languages, improvements in case management, contact tracing and on-site screening, as well as a flexible block-based digital survey system that facilitates the migration of historical data and the adaptation of resources such as eSPICTools. The platform also incorporates offline functionality, allowing data collection to continue without an internet connection, and an integrated calendar for planning and tracking activities.

This solution contributes to modernising epidemiological surveillance processes, improving the efficiency of fieldwork and strengthening the capacity for analysis and response to infectious diseases.
