UPC UOC Collaboration

This project consists of the development of projects in the field of learning technologies that will later be used in the Virtual Campus of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).

We have started the project with a comparative study and a proof of concept on XMPP servers and web and mobile clients on the market, with the aim of improving the presence systems and chat mechanisms in the UOC Virtual Campus. With this new approach, UOC students and faculty will be able to use the chat client of their choice to interact with other members of the Virtual Campus and a flexible and extensible mechanism will be available to manage presence and communication between users.

In a second agreement, two projects are being developed in parallel:

• the integration of a remote desktop tool in the Virtual Campus.
• the integration in the Virtual Campus of a tool for carrying out short surveys made by the teacher and that students can answer from their cell phones.

Agile methodologies are used to develop the different projects, such as Scrum for management and eXtreme Programming techniques for development.
