Description

This project carried out at inLab FIB in collaboration with Eolymp is an extension of the tooPath tracking system designed for the massive and real time tracking of runners in long duration races, so that the organization can have more accurate information on the evolution and position of the different runners.

The tracking of runners is of interest as an additional safety mechanism since it allows to know the last known position of the athlete in case of an accident. It is also of operational and logistical interest as it allows to know the evolution of the race, to detect where a certain runner is or to know how far away the nearest runner is.

SportTraces combines the use of a mobile device carried by the runner to obtain and send the position with a server where, through a web service, the position of all the runners and the statistics related to the race can be consulted in real time.

SportTraces Xtrem Running was used during the Xtrem Running Costa Brava 2012 race, as can be seen in the photos above.
