Description

This project arose from the need to replace the old fast access terminals (terminals in kiosk mode) that had the FIB, the Sun Ray terminals, which were too old and could no longer be upgraded.

We considered different options to carry out this project, replacing them with old PCs or with some other light equipment that could be easily configured as a kiosk type terminal. We opted for new lightweight equipment (Raspberry Pi boards) because of the advantages it had, both in terms of configuration and economically and in terms of energy consumption.

These fast-access terminals allow FIB users to access the Internet quickly and easily. The terminals also do not store information about the user’s history or data, so that browsing is private and there is no risk of a user being able to access other information.

We have the following blog article “Raspberry Pi, Kiosk Mode and much more” where we explain more about this project.
