“BONE” Excellence Network.

Description

BONE is a Network of Excellence of the VII Framework Program that brings together Universities and Research Centers of telecommunications companies in Europe. It aims to integrate and disseminate research on optical networks and communications in Europe, as well as to demonstrate the advantages of the use of optical technologies over electronic technologies in communication networks.

inLab’s participation in this network was focused on the implementation of a collaborative environment that would facilitate collaboration between project partners and broaden the project’s dissemination. WP3 – Electronic Communication Tools was also co-led.

The BONE partners are the inheritors of the e-Photon/ONe and e-Photon/ONE+ projects with some new additions and include the most important universities in technology representing almost all European countries, as well as the research areas of important companies such as Telefónica I+D. A remodeling of the web information system and the Intranet of the previous projects was requested to give more importance to collaborations between partners that would allow the creation of virtual work centers. In order to offer all that the project required, it was decided to adapt an existing collaborative work web platform (the ECAT platform).
