Mastodon is a free and decentralised social microblogging network that offers an open alternative to traditional communication platforms. This project aims to evaluate its integration at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) and analyse its potential as a communication and collaboration tool within the university environment.

As part of the project, a pilot test is being developed to validate whether Mastodon meets the communication needs of the university community, initially with the UOC’s internal teams and, depending on the results obtained, to assess its extension to other areas, such as virtual classrooms.

The inLab FIB, in collaboration with SEIDOR, is participating in the development of this pilot and in integrating the platform with the UOC’s various services and resources, facilitating its adoption and assessing its suitability within the University’s technological ecosystem.
