e-Photon One and e-Photon One+ Network of Excellence Web and Intranet

Description

e-Photon/ONe is a Network of Excellence (NoE) funded by the European Community under the Sixth Framework Program, focused on the Broadband for All strategic objective. The participants of the network of excellence are leading research teams representing numerous countries from all over Europe, including also a significant participation of telecom operators.

The UPC is one of the partners of the network, contributing the knowledge and experience of research groups on optical technologies from the departments of Computer Architecture and Signal Theory. The objective of the work carried out by inLab was to design, develop, implement and maintain the Intranet and the web of the network of excellence.

e-Photon/ONe aims to integrate and focus the research carried out in universities, telecommunications industries and operators in optical communication networks. The field of expertise ranges from optical technologies to network devices, from network architectures and protocols to new services emerging from photonic technologies. The basic technological objective of e-Photon/ONe is to promote the introduction of optical technologies in communication networks, beyond point-to-point transmission, and to show the advantages offered by these technologies compared to electronic technologies.
