Smart cities require governance models and technological platforms that enable the integration of data, services and infrastructure to address current urban challenges. This project aims to analyse the state of the art of Smart Cities and to develop a set of recommendations, action plans and key performance indicators (KPIs) to define a future reference framework based on the 3I concept (Inclusive, Integrated, Intelligent).
As part of the study, the case of Barcelona was analysed in depth thanks to the collaboration of the Barcelona City Council, documenting the CityOS platform as an example of a technological infrastructure that supports the management of a smart city and the integration of its urban services.
The project’s outcome is an analysis document prepared by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) of South Korea, intended to support the design and development of a new smart city. The study provides a knowledge base and a set of best practices that serve as a guide for the definition of a more inclusive, integrated and intelligent Smart City model.
