Last February 11 was the International Day of Women and Girls to Science. This day was proclaimed in 2015 by the General Assembly of the United Nations in order to achieve equal and full participation of women and girls to science and, to achieve gender equality and their empowerment. Since the last few years the international community is posing efforts to inspire and promote the participation of women and girls in this area.

The gender gap in the sectors of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) persists for many years, now we are in a time of change and thanks to all the activities that are being organized for both young students and women and, the visibility that is tried to give the woman in STEM surely in the next years the numbers will increase positively.

On the occasion of this special day, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia organizes the Women’s Week in the UPC with a set of activities that aim to make visible the contribution of women in the field of engineering, science, mathematics and the architecture. In this edition a day has been made to facilitate resources to incorporate the gender perspective in university teaching.

The Women’s Week at the UPC is promoted by the Vice Rector for Social Responsibility and Equality, together with the network of heads of equality of the centers and the office of equality of the UPC. On February 12, all the professors and researchers associated with the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona, ​​the School of Telecomunications and the School of Civil Engineering were invited to take a joint photo to visualize the group of women who do science in the Nord Campus of the CPU.

Among the activities that were carried out, one of our inLabers and student of the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona Karol Djanashvili, participated together with two other students, one from the School of Telecommunications and another from the School of Roads in an interview for RTVE radio to listen to their experience and opinions within the university on the occasion of Women’s and Girls’ Day in science.

Among the activities that were carried out, one of our inLabers and student of the Faculty of Informatics of Barcelona Karol Djanashvili, participated together with two other students, one from the School of Telecommunications and another from the School of Roads in an interview for RTVE radio to listen to their experience and opinions within the university on the occasion of Women’s and Girls’ Day in science.

From the inLab we encourage all the girls and women who have not yet decided and have an interest in being part of the community of people who study and are dedicated to STEMs that they join the journey on one of this areas.
