The Association of People with Reduced Mobility (AsoPMR), was born with the main objective of collecting and distributing useful information to this group, to help them in their autonomy and improve their quality of life. The association wants to support projects and social or social entrepreneurship initiatives that have an impact on this group, given the difficulty they sometimes face in highlighting their social purpose.
One of the projects that AsoPMR is involved in is Spot4Dis. The goal of this project is the automatic mapping of parking spaces for people with disabilities.
The objective of this project is to contribute to the technological development of Spot4Dis by providing the innovation and research component, demonstrable by inLab FIB, in the area of image processing and intelligent learning for the identification of parking spaces for people with reduced mobility.
AsoPMR, with the support of Google.Org Fellows, wants to improve the Spot4Dis application, specifically aiming to implement a series of improvements in the user experience driven by AI. This includes the use of voice commands, satellite imagery, and detection algorithms to expand the existing database of 47,000 accessible parking spaces.
The inLab FIB will contribute to the technological development of Spot4Dis by developing the image processing and intelligent learning module for the identification of parking spaces for people with reduced mobility, based on the five cities that will be used as a pilot for this project.
