Description

Atles is a collaborative project driven by various units and departments of the UPC, which aims to build an interactive map of the knowledge generated at the University. The platform allows users to visualise the different research areas, identify connections between disciplines and detect both areas of convergence and emerging fields of knowledge.

To build this map, Atlas applies natural language processing (NLP) techniques to UPC scientific publications, with the aim of identifying the most relevant topics and concepts. Machine learning algorithms are then used to group the publications into clusters that represent the different lines and areas of research.

The results are presented via an interactive visualiser that allows you to explore the UPC’s knowledge map, filter the information according to different criteria, and view the details of the relationships between disciplines, research groups and areas of expertise. In this way, Atles facilitates the identification of new opportunities for collaboration, fosters interdisciplinarity and provides a global overview of the University’s research activity.
