Mercè Vila Albacete is a mathematician with a Master’s degree in Statistics and Operations Research from the UPC. Their background has enabled them to develop skills in modeling real-world problems with an analytical and problem-solving approach. They describe themselves as a hardworking, self-motivated individual with a quick learning curve and a strong ability to collaborate in teams.
At inLab FIB, they have led optimization and data science projects, gaining experience in team management, as well as project planning and monitoring. They are currently the Head of the Data Science Area, where they oversee projects and manage new initiatives within the department.
Main projects directed
inLab FIB and Qorvo Inc. are collaborating on a research project exploring artificial intelligence-based approaches to accelerate microelectronic circuit design, with a focus on design automation and performance prediction.

In this project, the company, together with the participation of inLab FIB, aims to make the daily work of Help Desk staff easier, as well as that of employees who need to report requests or incidents, by automating form filling.
