On 29 June, the inLab FIB had the opportunity to participate in the opening of CAMARAC’s Sonor Refuge Pavilion, as part of the Barcelona 2026 World Architecture Capital programme.
CAMARAC is a non-profit collective of young international artists and architects that fights social injustices within the framework of major urban systems. inLab FIB has collaborated on the Refugi Sonor project, developing an intelligent audio processing engine to create an immersive experience that raises awareness and explores creative solutions for moving towards healthier city models.
Refugi Sonor is an immersive experience that brings together architecture, music and technology to reflect on one of the most prevalent yet least visible environmental issues in our cities: noise pollution. For one week, a pop-up pavilion will become a space for pause and listening in the heart of Barcelona. Inside, visitors can discover an exhibition of biodegradable acoustic insulation materials and a unique sound installation, where compositions created from sounds of nature react in real time to the city noise.
