During the official ceremony, the chairman of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trb.org\/AboutTRB\/AboutTRB.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transport Research Group<\/a> TRB Committee explicitly mentioned Barcel\u00f3\u2019s contributions to the development and dissemination of microscopic simulation and his active role in the community organising workshops and seminars on traffic modelling and simulation.<\/p>\n<p>The prize is awarded by the&nbsp;<a aria-label=\"Joint Traffic Simulation Subcommittee (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/trbcommitteeahb45\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joint Traffic Simulation Subcommittee<\/a>, which was founded in 2005; the first prize was awarded in 2007. Therefore, the award is well-known within the TRB community.
