Safelayer Secure Communications is a company that was founded in Barcelona with the participation of professors of the UPC. Safelayer develops software products in order to achieve reliable information and secure communications. Their technology is based on open standards and it includes digital identification, electronic signature and file encryption.
The objective of this project is to develop a web application that is able to capture the information of multiple accesses made by a set of users as a means to calibrate the precision of the authentication and identification algorithms developed by Safelayer. The captured parameters are related to devices, location and typing dynamics.
The sample users of this study will be students of the FIB. In order to encourage students to take part in the study, all participating students who complete a series of tests proposed by the company will have the chance to win a technological prize.
Currently, Safelayer is developing a solution that allows managing the authentication of final users in web and cloud computing environments, on which passwords are commonly used even if it is a mechanism vulnerable to all kinds of attacks. One of the main characteristics of Safelayer’s new solution is that it implements adaptive authentication processes. In order to calibrate this solution it is necessary to test it with a large number of people in a pilot project, especially in terms of the analysis of typing pace, which is the reason Safelayer has contacted inLab.
