Nobel is a project funded by the European Community under the Sixth Framework Programme focused on the strategic goal for Broadband for All.
The UPC is one of the partners in the project, and participates through research groups for optical technologies in the departments of Computer Architecture and Signal Theory. The aim of the work carried out by inLab within the Nobel is to design, develop, implement and maintain the website and Intranet of the programme. Also requested an independent reporting tool, ie, a tool to design and easily integrate reports into applications.
The Nobel project began in February 2004 and was carried out until February 2008. It was divided in two phases: Nobel and Nobel 2. In both phases of the project it was attempted to carry out several tasks for the support of optical networks: analysis, feasibility studies, experimental activities on innovative architectures and technology solutions.
The Nobel consortium comprises a large number of telecommunication companies, network operators and research institutes across Europe. We could highlight companies such as Telecom, Alcatel, Ericsson, Siemens and Telefonica, and universities such as UCL London, Budapest University of Technology and Economics or the UPC.
