Teaching lab
We are the teaching lab of the Barcelona School of Informatics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. We specialize in ICT environments to suport the learning and teaching of computer engineering, with specific hardware and software equipment, adapted and updated to provide students and faculty of the Barcelona School of Informatics with the right tools to develop the technical skills our future engineers need.
We manage, administer and mantain the infrastructure/equipment needed to support different services for FIB students, professors and administration and services staff.
We take care of managing and mantaining the FIB's computer labs, they're used for teachin, as rooms for group work sessions and can be rented of courses, exams, etc.
We manage more than 300 software packages used for teaching and managing all the infrastructures and its services.
We develop and manage information systems for the teaching management, the functioning of the school and the promotion of the studies.
The FIB has its own intranet from where you can access all the services the faculty provides.
We are in charge of broadcasting and recording (on demand) conferences that take place at the FIB, we have a video management platform (MediaFIB) and we provide support to make videoconferences, both via web and with the H.264 protocol.

Computer labs
The Barcelona School of Informatics has 21 computer labs distributed in three buildings (A5, C6 and B5), equiped with 376 computers (343 PCs, 30 iMacs and sunray terminals for fast searches).
All the labs have a projector and 1GByte Internet connection. We have special environments for certain classes with images and closed network configuration and also to take secure exams, without Internet connection or very specific connections to some web address or service.
The iMac labs have been made possible thanks to donations from companies and individuals.
Software
We manage over 300 software packages used for the teaching and learning processes at the FIB. Some of them are under UPC corporative license, FIB-specific licenses and more than 120 are open source software packages.
Databases
Postgres, Mysql and Oracle databases for teaching purposes.
Non-SQL databases: Hadoop, Mapreduce and HBase software.
Support to collaborative software development
Git software for version control and support to collaborative software development.
