Students transport of the Special Educational Centers of Barcelona

The Education Consortium of Barcelona (CEB) works for the improvement of the educational centres and the citizen through a unique educational net, in a collaboration between the “Generalitat de Catalunya” and “Ajuntament de Barcelona”.

One of the main functions of CEB is to take care of the transport service management of the Special Educational Centers (CEE) of Barcelona. Actually, the intention is to improve the management with the aim to optimize the available resources and guarantee the all the students in need have this service assigned.

The main objective of this project is to do a feasibility analysis of the different proposals that CEB is considering for and to improve the ongoing students transport management of the CEEs, considering his requests and his restrictions of resources.

inLab FIB is developing mathematical optimisation algorithms to resolve the corresponding problems of assignment, demand and routing for fleets of heterogeneous vehicles and where the demand can share vehicles and also has his particular characteristics.
