RegControl is a pioneer crop irrigation control system that uses advanced agronomic knowledge and real-time weather info to calculate, determine and execute the necessities of water supply for each kind of crop, adjusting itself to the land’s specificities and other climatic circumstances. The company of water services, AGBAR S.A., requested that inLab developed two modules: the irrigation planner and the hydraulic validation module. Both of these modules are essential to RegControl’s system.
The irrigation planner is the module that creates an irrigation schedule for all the sectors of the plot of land taking into account some physical and logistical restrictions. An example of a physical restriction is the maximum volume of water flow available at the crop, which limits the number of sectors that can be irrigated at the same time. Some examples of logistic restrictions are to have to use sprinklers in the morning when it’s less windy or to have to irrigate sectors with the same fertigation needs at the same time.
The hydraulic validation module is used to detect any problems related to the piping system such as leaks or obstructions automatically. This way, farmers will save time and gain tranquility by being able to take the appropriate measures immediately.
Both the irrigation planner and the hydraulic validation modules have been developed using optimization technologies.
