inLab FIB brings applied artificial intelligence to industry in Manlleu

On 2 July, inLab FIB took part in the event “The Practical Application of AI in the Industrial Sector”, organised by the Office for Economic Promotion (OPE Manlleu) and TechHub Manlleu, with the aim of demonstrating how artificial intelligence can be applied to address real-world industrial challenges.

The session, delivered by Ernest Teniente, Director of inLab FIB, and Marta Cuatrecasas, Technology Promoter at the laboratory, provided a practical overview of how AI is already transforming industrial processes and creating value for organisations across a range of sectors. Through real projects developed by inLab FIB, attendees discovered examples of how technologies such as computer vision, deep learning, digital twins and machine learning are being used to tackle specific innovation challenges.

Among the projects presented were solutions to automate industrial processes using computer vision, optimise water consumption in production plants through digital twins, detect risk situations in sporting activities using predictive models, and develop a virtual coach to help professionals and executives improve their communication skills.

Participation in initiatives such as this reflects inLab FIB’s commitment to knowledge transfer and to supporting organisations in their digital transformation journeys. It also highlights a working model that combines applied research, technological innovation and talent development by involving students in real-world projects carried out in collaboration with companies and public sector organisations.

The event brought together companies from across the region interested in gaining first-hand insight into the opportunities AI offers to improve competitiveness, once again demonstrating the importance of fostering collaboration between universities, businesses and public administrations to drive innovation.
