e-Photon/ONe is a Network of Excellence (NoE) funded by the European Community under the VI Framework Program that focuses on the strategic goal: Broadband for All. The participants of the Network of Excellence are leading research teams that represen a large number of countries throughout Europe, including also a significant participation of telecommunication carriers.
The UPC is one of the network members, providing the knowledge and expertise of its research groups on optical technologies of the departments of Computer Architecture and Signal Theory. The aim of the work carried out by inLab was to design, develop, implement and maintain the Intranet and the website of the network of excellence.
e-Photon/ONe aims to integrate and focus the research conducted at universities, industry and telecommunications operators in optical communications networks. The field of expertise ranges from optical technologies network devices and network architectures and protocols to new services that resulting from the development of photonic technologies. The basic technological objective of e-Photon / One is to promote the introduction of optical technologies in communications networks, beyond the point-to-point transmission, and show their advantages over electronic technologies.
