MHP on a Video On Demand system

Description

inLab FIB in partnership with the Laboratory of Information Modeling and Analysis (LIAM) research group developed and integrated a video on demand system to exploit the audiovisual and interactive content of CROMOSOMA, simplifying access to MHP content from web environments.

Duration of the project
October, 2005 to April, 2006
Benefits for the client
  • Optimization of the costs of the producer
  • A cataloguing and managing tool for CROMOSOMA’s audiovisual resources that makes it able to reuse components through the composition of objects (e.g. episodes) from simpler audiovisual objects (such as the opening title, the body of the episode or final credits).
  • Exploitation of content through a VOD (video on demand) system:
    • Automatic processing of the contents, converting them to the required format
    • Content access control
  • Distributed architecture (Web services) based on the MPEG-21 architecture and on open source software
  • Development of MHP applications that can be run on both Internet and interactive television systems.
Technology
Java,
HTML5
