This project consists of a case study that aims to evaluate the implementation of a dynamic congestion management system (congestion pricing).
The main interest of the system is to avoid traffic congestion, either for pure traffic efficiency, for environmental reasons or to avoid noise in residential areas.
In this context, the use of mobility matrices and simulation scenarios is essential to be able to estimate traffic in each zone (previously) and make decisions to modulate demand (dynamic tolls, reversible lanes, etc.).
To carry out the simulation scenarios, the available model of the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, owned by ATM (Autoritat del Transport Metropolità), is used meeting extension needs and offering multiple possibilities for defining pricing measures aimed at reducing congestion or emissions. This is a realistic model with the availability of existing resources and is macroscopic, on the VISUM trading platform.
This project has been made possible thanks to a grant received by Nommon from the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), in the form of Sustainable Automotive Technology Program.
