Server virtualization reduces the number of physical servers in the datacenter since a single physical server may have several virtual servers.
VMware vSphere 5 and VMware Center were used in this project. With VMware vCenter it is possible to access all physical servers and virtual machines from a centralized console.
The growing power of servers and virtualization have allowed consolidation of multiple servers, with all its features, on physical servers. This technique minimizes the number of physical servers in the Datacenter, which entails certain benefits: lower infrastructure costs, fewer breakdowns, less energy costs and better utilization of resources.
All the benefits of reducing the number of physical machines in a datacenter: reduced power consumption, reduced consumption for air conditioning, fewer breakdowns, less maintenance, reduced previsions of UPS batteries, etc..
Easier creation and management of new servers as well as the ability to increase or decrease supply of resources depending on the needs of applications or services that each server may have.
