inLab FIB – Labor Development Talks

During the coming months, inLab FIB collaborates with Labor Development to carry out a series of talks and webinars on various topics in the field of computer science and will be conducted by members of inLab FIB and UPC.

  • Levers of change Industry 4.0 and Digital Twin (05/05/2021)

This webinar will explain what are currently the various levers associated with Industry 4.0 and explain how Simulation can become a valid tool for the implementation of a digital twin to reduce the uncertainty of business risk. The participating speakers are Pau Fonseca (Modeling, Simulation and Optimization Project Manager) and Jordi Montero  (Modeling, Simulation and Optimization Technical Project  Manager).

  • Big Data and data engineering for predictive analytics support (Date: TBD)

With the participation of theOscar Romero (Responsible for Data Science and Big Data projects), Sergi Nadal (Collaborating Professor) andAlbert obiols (Head of Data Science and Big Data), This talk will discuss the evolution of analytical needs in the enterprise (from descriptive to predictive analytics) and big data engineering (Big Data architectures, type of repositories and how to govern them). Case studies on the automation of loading processes, transformation and integration of heterogeneous data and fraud prediction using graphs will also be presented.

  • How to apply Machine Learning to our company? (Date: to be determined)

This talk will focus on giving a brief introduction of what is behind machine learning: classification, clustering and prediction algorithms. The ingredients for data-driven decision making and process automation (data collection, data processing and modeling) will also be discussed. Finally, case studies will be included on topics such as casualty forecasting, market segmentation, recommendations, bus occupancy forecasting… and many more. Albert Obiols (Data Science and Big Data Manager) and Gonzalo Recio (Data Science and Big Data Technical Project Manager) will participate.

  • Cybersecurity: best practices for one around secure teleworking (Date: to be determined)

In this last session, in which René Collado (Cybersecurity Project Manager) and Antonia Gómez (Cybersecurity Manager) will participate, we will focus on good practices to improve the security of teams in teleworking. Concepts such as VPN – private and secure networks – as well as firewalls and antivirus will be discussed to provide a secure and reliable teleworking environment in the current pandemic situation.

We encourage you to save these dates and participate in the sessions. You can find more information about the first talk here
